Everything you need to know about Haptics. Can't find your answer? Ask Claude below.
General
Haptics is a real-time coaching app for cyclists, runners, and swimmers. It delivers haptic (vibration) cues straight to your wrist — alerting you to pace changes, climbs, turns, and nutrition windows — so you can stay focused on your effort without glancing at a screen. It also includes an AI Coach powered by Claude that analyses your training history and adapts to your goals.
Haptics is currently in development. We're accepting beta testers now — beta testers get 1 month of free AI coaching when the app launches. Sign up on haptics.coach to reserve your spot. We're limited to 250 beta testers.
Haptics supports cycling, running, and swimming. Each sport has its own set of intelligent cues — for example, swimmers receive stroke rate and lap pace cues; cyclists get climb warnings, turn-by-turn navigation, and power zone cues; runners get pace and cadence alerts.
No. Haptics works as a standalone app — the AI Coach is built in. You don't need a human coach, though Haptics also has a separate Coach app for athletes who do train with one. The AI Coach tracks your history and adapts your cues over time based on your performance and goals.
Features
Haptic cues are vibration patterns delivered to your Apple Watch (or Garmin / Wear OS watch). Different patterns mean different things — a short double-tap might mean "speed up", a long pulse might mean "climb ahead". You learn the patterns quickly, and after a few rides they become instinctive. No need to look at a screen mid-effort.
The AI Coach is powered by Claude (built by Anthropic). It has access to your ride history, training load, sleep, heart rate variability, and goals. You can chat with it in natural language — ask it to plan a training week, explain why you're feeling tired, or adjust your upcoming ride targets. It learns from every session and gives you context-aware advice, not generic tips.
Yes — that's the whole point. During a ride or run, Haptics runs on your watch and delivers cues silently via vibration. Your phone stays in your jersey pocket or armband. You only need to glance at a screen if you want to — the cues are designed to be fully understood by feel alone.
Yes. Haptics supports indoor cycling on smart trainers (ANT+ / Bluetooth), treadmill running, and indoor swimming. For Garmin users connected to a smart trainer, the AI Coach can dynamically adjust resistance targets based on how you're performing mid-session.
Yes. You can import routes directly from Strava and RideWithGPS. Haptics uses the route data to deliver timely cues — for example, warning you about an upcoming climb or reminding you to fuel before a hard segment. Activities sync back to Strava automatically after your ride.
Cycling cues include: climb alerts (with gradient and distance), turn-by-turn navigation, power zone changes, nutrition/hydration reminders, pace adjustments, sprint countdowns, and end-of-segment summaries. The AI Coach can add or remove cue types based on what you find most useful.
Devices & Compatibility
Haptics requires watchOS 10.0 or later, which means Apple Watch Series 4 and newer. We recommend Series 6 or later for the best haptic experience. The companion iPhone app requires iOS 18.0 or later (iPhone XS and newer).
The Haptics Garmin app is compatible with Fenix 5 and newer, Forerunner 945 and newer, Vivoactive 4 and newer, Instinct 2 and newer, and many other models from 2018 onwards that support Connect IQ apps. A full compatibility list will be available in the Garmin Connect IQ store at launch.
Yes — an Android version of Haptics is in development and will launch alongside the iOS app. It supports Android phones paired with Wear OS smartwatches (including Samsung Galaxy Watch running Wear OS) and Garmin watches.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and newer run Wear OS, so they are compatible with the Haptics Android app. Haptic cue delivery works on Galaxy Watch models that support vibration via the Wear OS haptic API.
No. Haptic cue delivery during a ride is fully offline — routes are downloaded to your device before you start. You need internet to chat with the AI Coach and to sync activities back to Strava. A brief connection before your ride is enough to load routes and receive your pre-ride briefing.
Pricing & Subscription
Haptics is $7.99/month or $69.99/year (save 27%). One subscription includes everything — haptic cues, AI Coach, all sports, all platforms. There are no tiers or add-ons. New users get a 1-week free trial. Beta testers get 1 month free.
Everything. Haptic cue delivery for all supported sports, the full AI Coach (unlimited chat messages within your monthly allowance), route import from Strava and RideWithGPS, activity sync, training plan generation, monthly performance reports, and access on all supported platforms (iOS, Android, Garmin, Wear OS).
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees.
Not at launch, but we're exploring team pricing for coached athletes and clubs. If you're interested in a multi-athlete plan, email us at [email protected] and we'll let you know when it's available.
Privacy & Data
Haptics collects activity data (GPS, heart rate, power, pace), Apple Health summaries (resting HR, HRV, sleep — if you grant permission), and your goals and preferences. This data is used exclusively to power the AI Coach and haptic cues. We do not sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Detailed health data stays on your device. Only summarised snapshots (e.g. "resting HR: 52 bpm, HRV: 68 ms, sleep: 7.5 hrs") are sent to the AI Coach to personalise your cues and advice. Raw HealthKit data never leaves your iPhone.
No. Your health and activity data is never used for advertising purposes, shared with advertisers, or sold to third parties. We use it solely to deliver the coaching features you signed up for.
Yes. You can request deletion of all your account data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll process your request within 30 days in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
